How do I know your site is secure?

First off, look in the navigation bar of your browser and make sure the web address begins with the letters https.  That's the designation that you've reached a secure site.  In the upper right section of the pledge page, there is a clickable logo that says, in part "Secured by GeoTrust."  When you click on this logo, it will bring up some information about KCCK's site being secure through registration with this company.  Status should be "Active" and the expiration of the validity period sometime in the future.

If anything about this page looks funny, or contains expired dates or other info, DON'T PLEDGE.  Call or email us and let us know, so we can find out what's going on.

What is EFT?

EFT stands for Electronic Funds Transfer, a paperless way to make your gift to KCCK through small monthly payments debited directly from your checking account.  Chances are you already make insurance, cable, utility, even mortgage payments this way.  It's a great way to make supporting KCCK an easy part of your regular budget.  Find answers to specific questions here

What is a downloadable Thank-You Gift?

To keep from making you wait for a pledge premium to arrive in the mail, as well as saving mailing costs, KCCK is now offering downloadable thank-you gifts, mainly music.  The way this works is as soon as we process your pledge, we'll send you an activation code, which can be redeemed instantly for your gift.  Music downloads are from emusic.com, an online music service which sells unlocked MP3 files which can be played on any computer or music player, including the Ipod.  Song and album choice is totally up to you (you don't even have to stick with jazz), but we'll recommend some of our favorites from the site when we send you your code.  You will not have to sign up for an emusic trial, provide a credit card or personal information (other than email) in order to redeem the gift.

You'll receive your redemption code as soon as we process your pledge, generally within 24 hours.

How often should I pledge?

One pledge per calendar year of any amount is what we generally define as being a current member.  However, many times we also ask people who have already pledged in a previous campaign to consider an additional gift during the next drive, or at year’s end.  That’s completely up to you.  More pledges make for shorter on-air drives, and everybody likes that!

What’s the difference between Basic Membership and Full Membership?

As noted above, ANY gift makes you a KCCK member.  If your gift is under $120, that’s called a basic membership.  As a Full Member, with a gift above $120, you receive some special perks like invitations to our annual Dinner at the Duck Pond, and some other donor recognition events throughout the year, that financial considerations make impossible for each and every donor to receive.

Should I send my pledge through the mail when I get your letter, or call during the on-air drive?

The earlier the donations come in, the more we know where we stand when the on-air drive begins.  As a current member, we have a line of communication open to you already, with our mailings.  During the on-air drive, we concentrate on reaching those who have never contributed, and who we can’t talk to any other way.  Plus, if we have a strong pre-drive mail campaign, we can plan to spend less time doing on-air fund raising, which again is good for all of us.

Is it better to mail a check or pledge online?

Whichever is more comfortable for you.  Online pledges are processed quicker, and we don’t have to pay a processing fee to the credit card company.  Our online pledge site is secure, there has never been a problem with anyone’s information going somewhere it wasn’t supposed to. But, if you’re more comfortable mailing us a check or your credit card info, that's fine too!
